Overview
During my year with National Geographic at The Walt Disney Company, I worked within the Production & Operations team supporting the localisation and delivery of television content across the EMEA region. Working across creative, operational and technical teams, I coordinated production workflows, managed localisation processes and helped ensure multilingual content was delivered accurately and on schedule.
My Role
Production
Coordinating localisation workflows, schedules and production activity across international markets.
Operations
Managing documentation, stakeholder communication, asset tracking and delivery processes.
Creative Production
Supporting voice-over production, quality control and collaboration between creative and technical teams.
Midway through my placement, my colleague was absent for an extended period, meaning I became responsible for both the National Geographic CORE and WILD localisation pipelines. What had previously been shared between two people became my responsibility, requiring me to manage production schedules, oversee localisation workflows, coordinate voice-over sessions and resolve delivery challenges across multiple international markets.
That experience fundamentally changed how I approach production. I learnt that successful creative work depends just as much on communication, planning and trust as it does on creativity. Working across multiple stakeholders, tight deadlines and international markets taught me to stay calm under pressure while keeping projects moving forward.
